Artistic Director: Meet Dr. Jolene Webster
Dr. Jolene Webster first came to Musical Memory Singers in June 2022, and officially accepted the Artistic Director position in August 2022. She also serves as President of Arts DFW, a non-profit organization serving the arts community of Northeast Tarrant County. In addition, she joined the staff of Abiding Grace Lutheran Church in Southlake, TX as Minister of Word and Service in Nov. 2025.
Dr. Jolene Webster has been a successful music educator since 1989, and has served as music minister at several churches over the past four decades. She holds a Doctorate in Education, Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Wesleyan University, 2015, Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, 1988, Bachelor of Music, KY, 1985 and Bachelor of Religious Education, KY, 1985. Dr. Webster holds Lifetime All-Level Music Certification, 1990, as well as Texas Teacher Evaluation & Support System Certification, 2019. She holds certification from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, and is an ordained Minister of Word and Service in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, 2004.
Dr. Webster has a wealth of musical and educational experience. She instituted the choral music program and served as head choral director at Coppell High School, 1989-2006, as head choral director at Paschal High School, 2006-2011, and in central administration where she coordinated Advanced Academic Activities at Fort Worth I.S.D., 2011-2015. Choirs under her direction have been invited twice to perform at Texas Music Educators Association (1997, 2006) and twice at American Choral Directors Association (2002, 2006).
She has served as Director of Music Ministries at Arlington Heights United Methodist Church in Fort Worth, University United Methodist Church, Austin; St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Fort Worth; Rejoice Lutheran Church, Coppell; as well as several Baptist and Methodist churches across Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Texas.
In Dec. 2021 Dr. Webster was invited to join the faculty as Adjunct Professor of Music at the University of Texas at Arlington, teaching Strategies and Assessment in Music Education, Class Voice, Current Trends in Music Education, and as University Music Education Clinical Teaching Field Supervisor. She was also appointed as Program Director for the Church Music Leadership Certificate, designing the curriculum.
Before teaching at UTA Dr. Webster served at The University of Texas at Austin as University Field Supervisor for Music Education Clinical Teachers. She also taught music courses at Northlake College, Irving for four years. She served as professional educational consultant to Del Valle I.S.D. Fine Arts. She is frequently called upon as a clinician and adjudicator, and conductor for regional, state and national choral contests and festivals. Dr. Webster has a strong and extensive international conducting resume, including Italy, France, England, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Canada, as well as significant domestic venues including Carnegie Hall.
Dr. Webster's teaching awards include: District Teacher of the Year, 2009; Texas Region XI Secondary Teacher of the Year, 2010; Bayard H. Friedman Teaching Chair for Excellence in Performing Arts 2009-2010; and Chesapeake Energy HERO Award 2010. In addition to her dissertation, she has numerous published articles and titles as well as conference presentations.
She is the proud mother of three grown children, Emily and Johnny, who are both music educators and Bethany who is in marketing journalism. She has four adorable granddaughters that she enjoys spending time with. Jolene and her husband, Tom Edgar, who is the appointed fundraiser for MMS, live in Hurst with their dog Sadie and cats Gigi and Tillio, and enjoy balancing their blended family with Tom’s two children, Jeff and Becky, and Tom’s five grandchildren.
